North Texas Tech Prep Consortium Statistics

Tech Prep enrollments grades 9-12 for 2004 – 2005 were 2,326. This is 21.3% of the total students in the North Texas Region are coded as Tech Prep. The state average is 13.5%.

Vernon College reported that in the fall of 2004, 16.38% of the total enrollment at Vernon College of 2,692 was enrolled in an approved Tech Prep program. The state average is 13%.

The Regional Tech Prep Enrollments by grades for the 2004 – 2005 year were approximately 700 students were enrolled in the 12 th grade, 636 students were enrolled in the 11 th grade, 615 enrolled in the 10 th grade, and 375 were enrolled in the 9 th grade as Tech Prep students.

Tech Prep students as a percent of Regional Grade 9-12 Enrollments were: 6,760 students or 62% of the total were coded as all other students, 1,864 of the total students were coded as Career and Technology students, not Tech Prep or 17%. There were 2,326 students coded as Tech Prep or 21% of the total.

Of the 10,950 total students in the North Texas Region, 17.61% are coded Tech Prep students. The state average is 13%. Of the 26 Tech Prep Consortiums in the State of Texas, 14 consortia have participation rates above the average, with 12 consortia having participation rates below the state rate.

The following data was compiled from the CATEMA and Scantron system:

For the school year 2002-2003, there were 590 seniors at 26 high schools registered in the Tech Prep Scantron System. Three Hundred Fifty (350) of these seniors had enrolled at Vernon College by September, 2005 as reported in the POISE system. This data shows that 59.32% of the Tech Prep seniors from 2002-2003 had enrolled at Vernon College.

For the school year 2003-2004, there were 667 seniors at 24 high schools. Two Hundred Forty Six (246) had enrolled at Vernon College by September, 2005. Thirty-Seven percent (36.88%) of the seniors who participated in Tech Prep had enrolled at Vernon College by September 2005.

For the school year 2004 – 2005, there were 1,026 seniors at 28 high schools registered in the Tech Prep CATEMA system. One fourth (or 254) of these seniors had enrolled at Vernon College by September, 2005. This data shows that Twenty Five percent (24.76%) of the Tech Prep seniors from 2004 – 2005 had enrolled at Vernon College. This number will increase as time increases.
